The daughter of percussion artist, instructor and composer Engin Gürkey and Şirin Gürkey, Beste Gürkey has achieved great success abroad. Istanbul University State Conservatory 7.Gurkey, a 12-year-old who is a class percussion student. In the international percussion arena, held in Italy for the first time, International Italy Percussion competition, one of the prestigious percussion world competitions, left behind over 100 competitors from 18 different countries between the ages of 12-15 and became the winner of the master instrument vibraphone category. Beste Gürkey also won the third prize in the Marimba category of the same competition and successfully represented our country in the concerts given by the winners of the competition in the Percussion Festival. Also attracting the attention of international music producers, Gürkey received the first solo percussion album offer to be recorded this year. Beste Gürkey has attracted the attention of many percussion authorities both at home and abroad with 4 first place, 1 second place and 1 third place in the six competitions he has entered in the last four years to date. He was the runner-up in the Marimba/snare drum category at the Universal Marimba competition held in Belgium in July. In addition to his solo concerts both in Turkey and abroad, he has a repertoire in which he performs mainly with the percussion orchestra under the direction of Engin Gürkey and with many chamber and symphony orchestras. Its basic instruments, mainly vibraphone and Marimba, and other percussion instruments, as well as the classical ATI music percussion repoertuar, meet with the wide repertoire of audiences who specialize in contemporary Turkish percussion music.
